<VV> Side vents

I suspect the operating end of the cable has merely been removed from the
lever on the flap. Take whichever kick panel looks easier, out, and find the
business end of the cable. Hook it back over the lever on the flap, and
you're done EXCEPT now you're disturbed the goop-based seal between the kick
panel and the body. Your goop is PROBABLY dried out, so now you must replace
it. Good replacements: from hardware store, rope-style caulk or (stickier)
from auto-supply store, 3M Strip-Calk (black, in a box). If you don't keep
that seal intact, you'll get water leaks onto the front of the floor, and
maybe air leaks too.

Subject: <VV> Side vents

I just bought a 1966 Corvair Corsa and Discovered that the side vents under
the dash have no operating mechanism so the pull knob just flops in and out.
I would appreciate any advice on how these can be "rebuilt", that is, is a
kit available with the " door/ flap" that opens and closes and the cable for
the knob. Also how do I determine is anything is missing on the frame which
would hold the vent door.
thanks for any help.
