Simon,
You will find folks promoting both the "Cold" method & the "hot & running"
method, both outlined in (either/or) the Tech Guide, original Service/Shop
manual and various repair/service guides. I prefer the cold method. It
seems easier to me, is not as messy, has shown to be accurate and was the
method used by the factory. If you don't have any manuals of instruction
yet, reply to me directly & I will give you the info off-line (to avoid
boring folks with this repetition).

Also note that even with proper adjustment, our flat sixes tend to drain the
oil out of the lifters (since they are horizontal) when the engines sit for
a spell. It is normal to get some lifter chatter upon start-up, but it
should subside after 10-20 minutes of normal (easy) driving.

Subject: <VV> Greenbrier..?
   Corvair friends...I have recently put a '66 140 in my '61 8 door
Greenbrier. I've got the engine running though the lifters are clattery.
My question is: What is the best way to adjust the valves on this
engine?
If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appriciate it.
    Thank you,
Simon
