There is a school of thought that the Corvair Carb works better when the 
float bowls are oriented 90 degrees from the stock location. These adapter kits 
from the 60's and 70's bolt down to the stock cylinder head and provide a new 
pair of mounts to locate the carb "rotated" 90 degrees. (Jet toward the rear) 
You also have to re-engineer the throttle linkage, fuel feeds and Air filters, 
compared to stock. - Seth
