I see several others have mentioned people to contact. They sound like 
good sources of information.

The person I know of who has actually had a 914/Corvair is Jim Vickers. 
I don't know him personally, but the program from the 7th Racers 
Reunion (VIR) showed him being from Corydon, Indiana. Try a search 
engine. If that doesn't work, try Warren Leveque.
