i have some expierience with a low(29000)mile 65 110hp powerglide package i
came up with not too long ago. the car was sitting out a long time. it was
the real mileage. (little old lady syndrome documented) i took the whole
powertrain home in my rampy. it ran good after doing crank seals, pushrod tubes,
and blower bearing. of course rebuilt the carbs and distrib also. the biggie
is it started using oil. turns out the rings are set up tight in the piston
grooves. so low miles aint always as great as it sounds..if you are very verey
lucky it got fogged or oiled up and run at times to keep things going ok. so
bottom line is i figure on problems with anything that old. oh yes the
tranny worked ok but...yup i took it apart when it started acting funny and found
rust and corrosion at the front pump areas up high away from the oil. so far
the differential is real fine.. so how good it is depends a lot on
storage..regards tim colson
