<VV> engine sheetmetal question

So, I've got the top sheet metal off the engine, and I'm doing a little
washing.  I'd like to remove the two pieces near the bellhousing, the ones
with the short tubes that the heater ducts attach to.  How is this done?
All the screws/bolts were already removed from one of them by the PO, and
it's just rattling around, but I can't find a way to remove it.  Don't tell
me you have to remove the head first!
