Pertronix II was designed to use their 0.6 ohm pri coil. Why don't you use 
it? Then +12 volts is OK. But with a stock coil, +12 will probably stress the 
stock coil too much and overheat it. I'd suggest that you keep the ballast res 
in the circuit.
