If there's enough brake line left, I would use double flare brake
fittings to splice on the short piece to make the line the correct
length.  Complete replacement of the right front brake line requires
removal of the gas tank.  Remove the sway bar from the front suspension,
and the tank comes out without much difficulty.  Replace the gas filler
pipe hoses when you put the tank back in to save problems later.

Although a compression fitting might work, I wouldn't use it.  All it
takes is one accident to ruin your day (or life).  If the accident was
brake related and accident investigator saw a compression fitting, I
wouldn't want to be in your shoes.
