Hi Ned,
I agree about the vacuum gauge for a 140, but it still is good to know if
the vacuum is about where it should be. It can also tell you a lot about
the engine, like if the valves are operating properly. As for an ammeter,
I think a voltmeter is MUCH better. You can have about the right current
flowing, but the voltage might not be right. The voltmeter provides better
information and you can see things faster with a voltmeter than an
ammeter. Also, it is MUCH easier to wire up a voltmeter versus an ammeter.
