GM Top Engine Cleaner is designed for this purpose and, as far as I know, it
does the job quite well. I've used it many times on both my Corvairs, and
the reason I equivocate about how well it works is that I can't see inside
the cylinders to judge its effect. It seems to improve responsiveness of the
engine, however. Any GM parts counter. Spray cans.

And can we say hyrdolock?  If the engine happens to quit running while your
pouring water down the carbs, it could hyrdrolock and bend your rods, etc.

would stick to the seafoam if I were you...
