 In working under the dash you probably disturbed the connector that links the rear harness with the under-dash harness.
 
It is a flat, wide connector with about 10 pins in it, right next to the radio.  Mine lost touch a few times in the past, knocking out some or all of the red lights in the rear.  You can open it up and clean it; just make sure the battery's disconnected first.
