The knocking alone could be from a head stud that turned into the crankshaft
area of the block just enough to hit a rod bolt, but the attending loss of oil
pressure indicates a rod bearing not properly miced when installed. Were the
crank shaft journals measured with a micrometer before assembly and were the
rod bearing clearances checked with plastiguage prior to final assembly for
proper clearance?   Your problem is in the bearings. Carl B
