Smitty says; Some of you do not understand my comments. I don't want
anyone to believe that harm will surely come to a pump that is stroked up
and down on the pushrod. All I ever said was that the potential exists.
One thing that has to be considered is what position is the cam in (how
high is the pushrod). Sure, reasonable care should prevent damage but no
one has ever mentioned anything about reasonable care. They just
described how to do it. I am sure some one read the advice given and
went out and stroked rhe pump up and down as far as it would go. As for
saying "I have done it lots of times and done no harm". Fine. I have
washed parts in gasoline and climbed two story ladders with a square of
roofing shingles over my shoulder too. The fact that I got away with it
doesn't mean I would want one of my kids to do it.
Robert to charge your YH you can unscrew the 3/4 chrome nut on
top of your carb and pour gas in there.
