<VV> Carb Base Gaskets...Need Info Quick

Swapping carbs, tonight, on my wife's daily driver GB.  Is there any 
particular advantage in using the stock-style base gaskets (the ones with the notches 
for the non-ported vacuum and the idle mixture circuit) Vs the non-OEM style 
(the ones without the notches)? I have both styles, with the newer style being 
slightly thicker to insure a good vacuum seal. (And yes, I know about 
sandwiching the insulator--top & bottom--with a gasket).
