 All,
 Per the Mini convention
I choose to call the Marshalltown , Iowa Kart tack event on Tuesday a time
trial so that you won't confuse it with the autocross at Hawkeye Downs
Saturday. The autocross will use protions of the 1/2 and 1/4 mile tracks at the Downs.
I'm suggesting to the ICE staff that they limit entries to the Kart Track
event to preregistered entries only--no acceptions. If we had done that at
Kentucky, we would only have had 50 or less entrants at the autocross and less
than 20 at the drag race.
The Kart track is .7 mile long; each run is two laps. The track is about 3
carts wide and every inch can be seen by the spectators. There are no
pylons. Speed is some third gear on the straight and most of the corners are hung
out in second.
***To get road racers to the Kart track for the time trial I am going to
offer a large Top Tweety for the fastest time of the day for a full size
Corvair--any class.
I will call this the "Racers versus Autocrossers challenge." We may well be
surprized at the results. I suspect that the winner will set a new Corvair
record time there. Does anyone know what the Corvair record is now?
I plan on challenging for the Trophy in my 1960 500 coupe road racer. I've
been there once about 10 years ago in my Stinger.
Who's in?? Which is going to win--racer or autocrosser???
