I don't recall whether or not we discussed this, so forgive me if I am
repeating something you may have heard already. You say it starts OK with
gas in the carbs, but are getting no gas from the tank to the pump -- Here
are my thoughts:

Plugged strainer on the fuel pickup in the tank (likely if the car was
sitting a long time with gas in the tank) or plugged main gas line (less
likely)

To check these, disconnect the main fuel line at both ends (rubber hose
connections - one at the front, near the gas tank, one at the right rear
wheel well).

If gas is in the tank and does not drain out when you disconnect the line
from the tank, then the strainer is plugged. To fix it you will have to
remove the sending unit. Tank may be full of old gunky gas and may need to
be flushed out. Removing sending unit is not too difficult -- just need to
remove the retaining ring with proper tool or tap it loose with hammer and
small drift. You will need a new O-ring and probably a new strainer to
re-install it. Corvair vendors sell the needed parts.

If gas drains out from tank OK, plug the tank (to stop the flow) and try
blowing air through the main line to see if it is blocked. If blocked, it
will need to be blown out or replaced (not an easy task)

Out of curiosity, have you hooked up with anybody from the Detroit Area
Corvair Club? They have a large membership and should be able to help you.
