Don,
Holman Moody is an old established race shop in North Carolina.
They were big in drag racing for many years and I believe are more
active in NASCAR recently. I remember their cars in Hot Rod magazine
when I was a teenager. I believe they were a Ford dealer in Charlotte for
many years. Maybe Hank or some of the other NC guys can tell you more.
This particular cam was a profile grind of theirs for low end torque purchased
by Richard Jenkins specifically for this engine. Beyond that bit of knowledge
I am dumb to cams.
I would suggest new forged pistons,(the originals are just getting to
old, with to many heat cycles to be dependable) chrome rings, full flange
Clevite bearings, and have the crank and heads gone through completely
by a competent machine shop. New valve guides, (bronze), valve grind,
high temp check of the seats etc, etc, etc. Replace exhaust tubes if the are at
all questionable. A tight exhaust path is critical to a turbo.
Clean, clean, clean......and then clean some more. Deflash!!! Plasti
Gauge!!
Take your time, keep it covered when your not working on it.(dust settlement)
Rebuild the Turbo and carb. Richard and I did mine and it is not that
difficult
if you have the books as a go by. The vendors do a good job also.
I went to the deeper finned pan and the finned valve covers to help
dissipate
heat and to seal better against oil leaks.
I am using the stock YH, however I am so intrigued by Warren's write up in
Solo Is.... on the Quadrajet and adapter, that I purchased a Quadrajet and
will
be shipping it to Warren soon. However Stock done right is a blast to drive.
I have about 6 thousand miles on the engine now, several trips between 200
and 500 miles from home, and around 20 autocross runs at various gatherings.
I'm sure there are a lot of things I'm forgetting. Any particular
questions, email
me back.

  Ron,
What or who is Holman Moody???? Can you give me a run down of what you have
in and on the engine. I'm in the process of building an engine for my son's
66 Turbo CORSA. Are you using the YH carb??
