i have taken a few engines apart over the years that had irridited or cad plated valve covers, some even just partially done at an angle so the rusted where there was no plating. about the same colors as a carb. i dont give a hoot about "stock is " anymore so i paint darn near everything semi gloss black. then i drive the heck out of them and enjoy them to the max. regards , tim colson
