My brother bought unissued plates years ago for $10.00 for the set of
two.  The latest that I've seen at auto swap meets is at or slightly
more than $100.00/set.  Issued plates are considerably less.  He never
did have them registered with the DMV, but I think that cost is around
$50.00/year.

What do plates go for?  I've got a stack of Illinois plates going back
to 
the mid '50s.
