If you got the time, go for it! I'd drive it back if it were me. Just 
take it easy on the acceleration for the first 500 miles, and vary the 
engine speed frequently. If it's in good condition, you won't have any 
problems. Besides, nothing like a shakedown cruise to make sure she's 
shipshape!
