Ned:

Yes, the Latin languages can be transliterated just enough to fool the novice into a major blunder.  "Testigos," for example, means nothing like how it sounds.

"Libreria" means "bookstore," while "biblioteca" is library.

Also, "embarazada" means "pregnant."  Go figure.
