I wish my experiences at Sam's had been so positive!

The first time I went in to have my EM's tires rotated, the guy called me out to look at the rear wheels dangling from the lift. "You have a camber problem," he said.

I explained the swing axles. He shook his head: "You have a camber problem." I explained swing axles again, and he repeated himself again. I told him to rotate the tires and put the car back down.

He did, then backed into a shopping cart.

Next visit, I decided not to let them near my car with tools unless absolutely necessary, so I brought in a flat off the car. The kid working the counter looked at the nail stuck in the tread, pronounced it "not fixable" and said I would need a new tire.

He did not know I was busting tires when he was in diapers.

I pointed to the nail's location and said I wanted a plug put right there. I assured him I would be in next week for a whole new set of tires, which was my plan going in, as soon as payday rolled around.

He repeated that the tire was "not fixable."

We went 'round and 'round about this until I left the store. I had a roadside tire shop plug the leak, then spent $100 more at NTB than I would have at Sam's on excellent tires that lasted eight years.
