Les,
The output transistor probably got warm with the stock speaker, too, but I'd
still worry about running 4 ohms.  IF I didn't go with one of the vendor's
replacements, I'd put two 4 ohmers in series.

Well, actually, I'd go with a CD and speakers in the A/C vents, but that's
another story....
