Shaun, can you estimate the SCOPE of your comment (regarding the
reinforcement)? The original scope was early-model convertibles. Could your
remark have any application to late-model coupes? I've got a very stubborn
rattle in my passenger door, and I'm wondering if this could relate to it.

On your inner doorskin there is a louver across the bottom where the
waterproof paper tucks into. In the middle of this slot, there's a
reinforcement that connects the top of the slot to the bottom of the door.
That reinforcement is always broken from what I've seen, probably from
pulling the door shut.
I've replaced the reinforcement with a little heavier one, better attached.
Wiggle the strip of metal over the louver. You'll see what I mean. If the
reinforcement is intact, it won't wiggle.
