The "A" bodies were the Chevelles, etc. from 64 on. When the CItation, etc came out, 81, the Vair was long gone, they applied the "X" body name. The new for 75 Monza was the "H" body. The Camaro was always the F body. When the step up from the Citation came out, the Celebrity. It was called the A-forward, since it was the A size, but front wheel drive. The RWD derivative of the Chevelle like the Monte Carlo were the G body. When the larger FWD cars, like the Lumina and Grand Prix replaced the RWD G- bodies, they, too got the "G" body name. At some point, those were switched to the "W" body name.

Okay ready for the test? What "body" letter is the Corvette? Why should you want to know? Why not?

Scott
Corvair Decade sez Corvairs were X Body Cars, and at the time Tony was writing
the book, he compared them to the
X body car of the day, the REALLY ill-fated Citation.

In the 60's the A body Car was the Chevelle

In the 70's-Early 80's it was a Monte Carlo

Or so the Parts MGR at the local Chevy dealer sez.
