Warren, Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Roger was one of the first people I met when I got into 'vairs back in
1990... he was tipping the scales then around 350 or so, and was at 413 when he had
the gastric bypass surgery (same surgery AND surgeon that my wife Cheryl used
several years ago, which is why Roger did it)... and now he weighs 194....
Roger was been checking up on me with bimonthly phone calls, since I'm about 180
miles away now, and not the 35 miles I'd been for the last 13 years prior to
moving here... Roger is a long time member of the Cincinnati Corvair Club and
also a member of the Central Kentucky Corvair... If you've ever gone to one of
the "Winter Swap meets" in Cincinnati, odds are you saw Roger... either
vending or taking money at the door, or snatching up the part you just saw... He and
I would go up to the Bryan, Ohio swap meet back in the '90s, and usually
spend more money than our wives thought we had.... I called him this evening and
talked with him for maybe half an hour... he's weak, tired of being sick, and
could use some encouragement... I'll be out looking for a "get well" card
tomorrow after my Dr appt.... he needs our help, if only a call, or a card... I
know he hasn't been able to work for some time, and he's in his mid-fifties...
lots of places just don't want a "seasoned & experienced" employee....

His wife Joyce is helping to take care of him now, and I don't think I've
known a sweeter, more genuine lady than Joyce. She's soft-spoken, and very
intelligent.... they aren't on VV, so I can say lots of nice things about them and
not worry about it getting back to them.

For all you guys who went to the Clay City "Mountain Parkway" Drag Strip last
year, you have Roger Jennings to thank for that... he's always been a "gear
head" as long as I've known him... and if you ever get the chance, ask him
about his '29 Ford coupe with the 289 and the Jaguar wire wheels.... he's had it
since the late 60s, and it sits in his basement... still has 1969 tags on it.

Warren gave out Roger's phone number earlier, and I'll do it again:
859-331-7505
And his address if you want to send him a card...
Roger Jennings
1640 Park Road
Ft. Wright, KY 41011-2740

Anyway, for the prayin' types out there, add him to your list... he and his
family need them. He's been sorta like a big brother to me (even though his son
Jon is just a few years younger than I am)....
He's a good man.
Thanks for the bandwidth....
Later,
Lonzo
