And NOW you get into the politics of the old car hobby. I have VERY VERY firm opinions in this area,
but have been told in no uncertain terms that those opinions (about how best to make sure we get to
continue operating our old cars) does not belong on a list (even one devoted to operating old cars)
because the answers are political. And apparently some folks have a different political opinion and
strongly dislike being reminded who and what they are voting for do to the old car hobby.

The way things are going now, I'm just happy that our old cars can still be legally driven without
significant modifications and that we can continue to work on the cars ourselves... two "low threshold"
areas which are constantly under attack by the other side. Low threshold meaning that they don't cause
the other side any pain, but are attacked on principle. And if we lose those two areas, the old car hobby
is gone. We very well may be paying $5 (or more) per gallon, but the old car hobby can survive that. It
CAN'T survive more regulation than it already has.

CORSA is not very active at all in the political arena of trying to save the old car hobby.... that is the
primary goal of many other car clubs. My take (possibly incorrect) is that CORSA is more concerned
about its own survival and doesn't want to create any waves in the membership (especially considering
that some of the major backers/founders would not agree with my assessment here.) So I think that's a
limitation we have to live with.

If you want to discuss this in more detail, you can do so on vv-talk.
