I just went downstairs and checked my quartz Corsa clock. I installed the  
quartz kit sometime in the early 90's. The second hand moves smoothly with no  
jumps. As for accuracy, The only times I have had to set the time has been  
when DST changes or when I disconnect the battery.

The tick-tock type seems smooth but is really  several baby steps each 
second. Quartz clocks I have seen the second hand  usually moves in whole 
second jumps. Is how I tell. Is the Corvair  replacement different ?
