Positive ground was the rule at least through the 50's (Jags even had one
6v battery in each wing to make 12v). Fuses were on the ground side also so
the devices could protect them. Easiest car to hotwire I ever saw was a
Rolls, just move one fuse a half inch. Needed the key to add gas so
joyrides tended to be short.
