Well Phil, when someone has no mechanical aptitude...it's easy to understand 
why they don't believe!

Anyone that's been around cars for any length of time would know the Vair has 
substantial mounts....that the torque of the Vair engine is far greater than 
that which is applied when jacking...........simple...but true.....

NOW  that being said, "I can't believe anyone would jack the cars using the 
skidplate!......think 
FULCRUM.....LEVERAGE.....PRESSURE......COMPRESSION.........gggggggg

NOTE: Your methodology in raising the Corvair is pure........OVERKILL!
