well i tore the engine down today . it was not the engine i thought i was 
running.. it had 64 110 heads and pistons etc with a 9891 cam. 2 pistons were 
destroyed by ring failure. bearings looked ok. all pistons were worn badly. i 
wonder if its an engine that was stuck and i freed io up years ago.  the cylindrs 
looked pitted but worn shinel over the pits in spots. oh well i know it has 
at least 30k miles on it so i cant gripe too much. i took good pictures of the 
failed pistons..huge ring gap grooves in spots and many chunks of rings gone.  
i am just glad i got home from vt with it.i dont think pinging or too hot a 
plug did it because the tops of the pistons look ok and heads look good. now if 
i could only remember how i got a 64 engine in it...i may post pictures of 
the pistons on the website later. boy have i got parts to clean and go over 
now...
