Mike worte:

Where am I supposed to hook the shoulder belt to in my convertible? Oh, I could
put Sebring seats with integral belts in. Well, why don't I just replace the w
hole car with a Sebring then, if safety is so important? I've said it before an
d I'll say it a
ain, if you are really, really concerned with safety, you shouldn't be driving a
Corvair (or any 60's car). Modern cars have it all over our old clinkers when
it comes to safety features - like it or not. Even with airbags though, people
get killed in c
ashes. I'm not advocating total disreguard for safety but you have to be a litt
le realistic here.

I suppose we could take the approach that "we all gotta go sometime" but not
all of like to drive modern cars all the time. I don't think it out of line
to make the old Corvair as safe as possible without going over board.

And, what's so "unrealistic" about installing a crumby seat belt .... and using
it? I don't think anybody is saying we should run out and install air bags and
 roll cages in the cars......
