Time-sert and Helicoil repairs for thread stripping are two different repairs. They are not the same, and I've used both. The Time-sert repair I have found to pull (unscrew) with plug removal. The Heli-coil didn't.  Now the Time-sert inserts were installed by a machine shop, so I can't attribute it to my failure to install properly.
Now I've used Time-sert inserts in the Northstar engine for headbolt repair, and they hold just fine.
