It might. Previous generation  FWD Honda 4 cylinder cars have TCs that  not 
only lock up, but turn the correct direction for a Corvair. 
Now, assuming you could get a way to connect it to a PG, (probably no mean  
trick) you'd also need to find a way to send fluid pressure to the lock up  
clutch, and then figure out how to install a solenoid, and then control it. 
Or, reverse the rotation of the engine and install a Porsche automatic.  <G>

an '84 Celebrity with a 2.8 liter (+/- 164 c.i.) V-6 and a lock up  converter 
that stopped locking up.  Highway mileage dropped from 27 mpg  to 23 mpg when 
the lock up feature quit.  So I was thinking that a lock  up converter might 
help mileage in Powerglide Corvairs and would probably  reduce interior noise 
level too.
