i made some short throw shifters for earlys by pressing the ball to a 
different position and using a 3 spd housing years ago. i used to have a ham radio 
under the regular radio grabbing my knuckles. i also put that combo on a shift 
kit and sawed the lever down short with a nice know epoxied onto it.  was real 
short and worked great.   have pictures around here somewhere. i think the 3 
spd levers for early cars was a gray painted when 4 spds were chrome?  anyhow i 
tried a lot of stunts over the years , with some great results most of the 
time.
thank you for all the notes and ideas on powerglides. yes i have about every 
book on vairs here somewhere in the mess getting ready to move someday .
