<VV> One Wire Alternator Problem, Last Word.

I finally got a hold of the guy I bought the alternator from and explained the problem with it. He said that this alternator was built with a "low turn on diode" to facilitate charging at low RPMs. This is the constant draw that I see. He further indicated that this is not a problem unless the vehicle is parked for an extreme period of time. 
Does anyone have experience with this type of unit?
Am I getting fed a line of crap?
