<VV> White reflects heat?

Don't want to start a flaming war, but doesn't white reflect light better
than black and that is why a roof will be hotter when it is black? The only
time my vair pushrod tubes see daylight is when I've rolled it ala Nader!
Having said that I painted the side that faces the exhaust white, just in
case!

On the other hand, I'll bet I can come up with a ton of references in the
next 2 minutes that say white reflects heat better than any other color.
I'll bet anybody who knows how to use Google can too. To wit:

"On a 90 degrees F / 32.2 C clear sunny, day in Austin Texas, a white roof
had a temperature of 110 degrees F / 43.3 C, an aluminum coated roof, 140
degrees F / 60 C, while a black, single ply roof, a temperature of almost
190 degrees F / 87.8 C (yes, one hundred and ninety degrees Fahrenheit,
eighty seven plus degrees Celsius). "
