Trying to get me on a technicality eh?  I know what you mean though, it's not a pillar the way we normally think of one since it doesn't go to the roof which adds considerably to the rigidity of the body.  I still claim it's a kind of pillar though - at least 1/2 a pillar in any case!!

I thought a pillar by definition supports the roof. The Corvair has a door post 
but no B-pillar.
