I used the 2 - part replacement from clarks and it worked well on my '65.
I think that they now sell the rocker as a one - piece replacement part,
so you don't have to weld it up from two separate pieces anymore. I did
it myself and it was not a job I would want to do again. $600 seems like
a bargain. Make sure he keeps the top up and latched so the you don't
have to re- fit the whole mechanism when the job is done. You will
probably find that the post that comes down from the lower windshield
corner and has the door hinges in it is also rust - damaged as well. You
can cut out a section of the inner fender liner to get at this area from
the back. That corner is what holds the front of the car to the back of
the car;- have him do lots of reinforcing in that spot, and lots of
rustproofing in there when he is done. (why oh why did GM use this area
for the drain from the windshield?)
