I don't have any problems with the standoff.   There are still  standoffs 
on cars here... and in fact I installed one on the '62 ragtop that has an 
alternator modification, including a modified late style engine bay wire 
harness etc.

The "HLPT" installed on the '62 is working just fine.    They will all work 
fine if they're not allowed to rot and corrode and fall apart because of 
spattering from battery acid etc.
