i wonder if the balls wear when first run if you did not put assembly lube on 
them or at least vaseline....i have taken high mileage engines apart that 
have very useable rocker balls. i also look at rockers carefully for wear at the 
tip where they contact the valves..if it has a worn area it will be noisey.  i 
use assembly lube by touco or make ky own with stp and trans fluid.  it 
should take quite a bit of it to assemble an engine if you use it everywhere you 
should.  well about 4-6 oz anyhow.   regards, tim colson
