Yes, it's true.  Add one to two ounces to the engine oil and if  the leaking 
seal is not cracked or too hard the rubber will soften and swell just  
slightly 
and stop many leaks.  Not a cure-all but can get you to the point  where 
you want to do an engine reseal.  I've used this many times and it is 
effective.  It will not affect the lubrication ability of the  oil.
