Many, many years ago, while most of you were still messing in yer diapers, I
was a plane captain on those durn AD's. Was a member of VA-175, based in NAS
Jacksonville, Fl. Went to the Med three winters in a row, and to Gittmo
three summers in a row, too. Served on the Midway, Roosevelt and Coral Sea.
The engine was a radial four row of seven cylinders, with two spark plugs
each. And each used a dab of anti seize on them. And a four blade prop we
had to 'walk thru' every day. And yes, they would carry a heck of a load.
Also had two 20 mm guns, one in each wing. There are still some of the
troop around, they have a reunion once in awhile.
