<VV> Corvairs as A-bodies, engineering similarities?

The "other" cars based on the early Corvair were indeed unit body cars. The 
entire collection of these cars had individual components specific to the 
brand. I have researched the front end parts, as a test, to see what 
interchanged with the early Corvair. Result: basically nothing was the same. 
The automatics used in the Buick & Olds versions were only used in these 
small cars. Same for the 215 aluminum V8 engines. Even those were different 
by brand as each brand used different heads. The PontiacTempest used the 
transaxle but it was different (bigger) than the Corvair. They had 4 gear 
spiders from the factory on some models. The automatic was the same as the 
Corvair PG. The Tempest had a four cyl that was based on one side of the 
Pontiac V8. They also had a 326 V8. This line of cars must have cost GM 
plenty of development cost as so many parts were NOT shared!
