<VV> Repy to recent wiring harness prices post

My Dad had a Hobby Shop when I was younger.  But, by the '60s he and the 
other two shops in town (both of which had been around since the '30s) 
had gone out of business.  Why?  Because modelers found out they could 
save a few bucks by buying big ticket items (such as engines) from mail 
order houses (distributors)....  they would buy the small stuff (props, 
glue) from the local dealer, but that wasn't enough to keep the local 
guys in business. It was partially the distributors fault, as they 
shouldn't compete with their dealers, but they did.  I see this as 
exactly the same thing -- save a few bucks by going directly to the 
manufacturer (who should refuse to sell retail)  and cut out the dealers 
and before long, there won't be any dealers!
