Chuck, since you are in the Western part of the country (as I am), there's  
no way it makes sense to do either extensive rust repair or extensive collision 
 repair when you can buy a shell for a couple of hundred dollars and have it 
home  in a weekend.  What's a couple hundred hours of your time worth?  
 
Also, don't worry about finding a manual trans donor car.  The bodies  are 
set-up to go either way and conversion is brainless.  The M/T shifter  hole in 
the floor in there in an A/T car, but has a tin cover on it. The clutch  
crossshaft bracket is there even in A/T cars and the welded in nuts for the  rear 
clutch crossshaft bracket are rubber-plugged but there in A/T cars. All  parts 
swap over.  The underdash clutch stuff is different in late-lates to  
accomodate the wider collapsible column but you already have those parts.
