<VV> Loud noise when hot

Yup, removed belt and noise was still there, at idle or at speed and directly proportional to the engine speed. It's a PG car but sound is independent of anything in front of the engine and seems to eminate from the right rear of it. I used a sounding stick and couldn't pin an exact spot down. However, working under the right rear right behind the exhaust pipe didn't encourage any lengthy diagnostic work.

  Ron,
More info might help. Screech at what engine speeds? Does sound change tempo at higher engine speeds? MT or PG? Clutch in or out? In neutral or gear? Car moving or not? What speeds? Have you tried removing the fan belt as a trial?
