<VV> Clutch assembly or transaxle?

As John already mentioned....pilot bushing.....engine recently 
rebuilt......could be!

Are you sure the clutch is adjusted to fully dis-engage?  Eliminate ALL  
freeplay  and see if it still does it!

Don't forget to get back here and report what you've done.....masny more will 
answer after the 1st / simple things are checked..
