---------------------------------------------------------
My bought new, made-in-America, 1985 Golf went 250k with no engine problems and I was not real good about my oil changes and only used conventional oil. Never even heard of Synta. It was a great car. We gave away our 1966 Corvair when we bought. We always missed our Corvair - I don't miss the Golf. It was a great car but did not evoke an emotional response like the Corvair. (it died in a flood from hurricane Isabel). Actually it still ran after being flooded by almost 3 feet of salt water. My other car didn't. But it was rusting away before my eyes. So sad...

I agree that it's anecdotal evidence, but a) I know of a lot of Golfs in
similar condition and with similar miles, and b) I have seen the lack of
wear with my own eyes, and I wouldn't have believed it possible. Likewise
the lack of parts that have had to be replaced.

And as I said, while it maybe doesn't prove that Golfs are wonderful or that
Synta is wonderful, it certainly proves that Synta isn't *not* wonderful!

Cheers

Alan
