<VV> reset trip odometer (not helpful)

Well on my '65 Monza I....  Hey, who took my trip odometer???????

actually, from what I've seen, there's a little knob on the lower left (driver's left) side of the dash (kind of under the dash) that you have to turn to reset.  It's on the end of a short cable that goes to the speedo.  My lower class Monza of course has no trip odometer or cable.  so sad....

OK...I have had the car for a year and a half, have read 1/2 dozen Corvair 
books cover to cover and still do not know how to reset my trip odometer!  
Anyone give me a clue?
